Ryan Athletic Center

Dedicated on Aug. 28, 2009, the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center and D.J. Sokol Arena, a 78,134 square-foot facility, houses a gymnasium seating 2,500, women’s basketball and volleyball coaches’ offices, locker rooms, ticket offices, athletic training and meeting rooms, media workrooms and much more. The arena is also expected to be used for other campus and community events including campus assemblies, coaching camps/clinics, concerts, speakers, and high school graduations.

Kiewit Fitness Center

The Kiewit Fitness Center is a 2.5 acre air-conditioned building. It has five full-sized gymnasium courts with score boards on each court.

Ruth Scott Training Center | Women's Practice Facility

The $5 million training facility is the latest addition to the east campus athletic corridor. Fewer student-athletes will miss practice because of tight gym and classroom schedules, and all Bluejay student-athletes will benefit. Designed primarily for volleyball and women’s basketball, this facility acknowledges the hardworking, talented coaches and student-athletes Creighton hopes to retain.

Aligning with Creighton Athletics’ mission of recruiting, retaining, developing and graduating outstanding student-athletes, this new facility will be a vital developmental resource for both programs. It will provide an alternative 16,109 square-foot space to ensure both programs have ample court time to develop individually and as a team. As the volleyball program’s success continues to expand its season by more than a month, having a designated practice gym will alleviate scheduling challenges, as well as provide ideal practice times for both programs as their competition seasons overlap.

The Ruth Scott Training Center provides space for two full-sized basketball and volleyball courts, six basketball hoops, two automated volleyball nets that lower from the ceiling, state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment to film and review practices, a hydration station and additional storage space.

In recent years, both the Creighton women’s basketball and volleyball programs have achieved incredible success on the national stage.  In 2017-18, the women’s basketball program extended its postseason streak to 11 seasons after reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Bluejays earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and defeated No. 6 seed Iowa in the first round.

In addition, the space will provide more opportunity for the Creighton community to host additional special events at D.J. Sokol Arena during normal practice times. This facility also sends a strong national message showing Creighton Athletics’ dedication to women’s athletics, student-athletes and coaches. Construction on the training center was completed in January 2019, with the facility dedicated on February 4, 2019.

Parking: You may park in any designated student parking lot. Student parking lots are designated by green signs.

Directions To Creighton University

From The East: Follow I-80 West across the Missouri River to I-480/Highway 75 (north). Take exit onto North I-480/Highway 75. Once on I-480/Highway 75, stay in one of the left two lanes to continue on Highway 75/Airport. Take the first exit (Burt and Cuming Streets) off Highway 75 after I-480/Highway 75 split. Exit, turning right onto Cuming Street. Turn right at the first light, onto 24th Street. Follow 24th Street to Cass Street (located just before the I-480 underpass), turn left, and make an immediate left into the Visitor Parking Lot. The lot is on the northeast corner of 24th and Cass Streets.

From The West: Follow I-80 East to the I-480 (Downtown) exit. Once on I-480/Highway 75, stay in one of the left two lanes to continue on Highway 75/Airport. Take the first exit (Burt and Cuming Streets) off Highway 75 after I-480/Highway 75 split. Exit, turning right onto Cuming Street. Turn right at the second light, onto 24th Street. Follow 24th Street to Cass Street (located just before the I-480 underpass), turn left, and make an immediate left into the Visitor Parking Lot. The lot is on the northeast corner of 24th and Cass Streets.

From The North: Follow I-29 South to I-480 West, exit 53B. Follow I-480 across the Missouri River into Omaha, and exit on Dodge Street, exit 4. Continue straight on Dodge, heading towards 24th Street. Turn right onto 24th (heading north for about 1/2 mile) to Cass Street. Turn right onto Cass, and make an immediate left into the Visitor Parking Lot. The lot is on the northeast corner of 24th and Cass Streets.

From The South: Heading north on I-29, merge with I-80 West in Council Bluffs, IA. Follow the signs for I-29 North (Sioux City, Exit 1A). Take West I-480/West U.S. 6 (Exit 53B). Take Exit 4, Dodge Street. Continue straight on Dodge, heading towards 24th Street. Turn right onto 24th Street (heading north for about 1/2 mile) to Cass Street. Turn right onto Cass and make an immediate left into the Visitor Parking Lot. The lot is on the northeast corner of 24th and Cass Streets.

From Southern Nebraska, Take Highway 75 North, Heading Towards The Airport: Follow Highway 75 (North Omaha Freeway)/Airport signs to North I-480/Highway 75. Once on I-480/Highway 75, stay in one of the left two lanes to continue on Highway 75/Airport. Take the first exit (Burt and Cuming Streets) off Highway 75 after I-480/Highway 75 split. Exit, turning right onto Cuming Street. Turn right at the first light, onto 24th Street. Follow 24th Street to Cass Street (located just before the I-480 underpass), turn left, and make an immediate left into the Visitor Parking Lot. The lot is on the northeast corner of 24th and Cass Streets.

Coming From The Airport, Eppley Airfield: Eppley Airfield is served by 20 carriers and is about a 10-minute taxi ride to Creighton University. If renting a car, exit the airport by turning left onto Abbott Drive (heading south). After about 3 miles, it will turn into Cuming Street (heading west). Continue on Cuming to 24th Street. Take a left and follow 24th Street to Cass Street (located just before the I-480 underpass), turn left, and make an immediate left into the Creighton Visitor Parking Lot. The lot is on the northeast corner of 24th and Cass Streets.
